1. Knowing what admittedly little I know about the two of them irl, I really don't see them having any compatibility. It'd be cool if they did, but I don't think they do. (Oh, and there's that little thing about him being married.)

48. I know what you mean. I'm tired of that being the mode for shonen anime, and it was particularly cognitively dissonant that Keitaro would choose regular beatings over being with his childhood sweetheart imho.

Yeah. Because, looking at him phsyically-he isn't THAT pretty. But his voice and his attitude is just...hot.

Attitude is right!! I read the first sentence of your response without reading the second and thought, "yeah - but it's his attitude too. " Like... he's cocky without being a total snob or a jerk?

He's one of my favorite characters in HB, that's for sure.

Yes! It's hard to pull of the cockiness without being a jerk and/or snob

He's also one of my favorites along with Peanut.

I think Peanut get some of the best material in the show.... like when he addresses Shouyu Weenie, or becomes Harvey's dealer.

This is the most discussion I've had about HB in a long, long time - I've tried showing it to people and they just don't get it. :D

It's amazing to me - because of all the stuff turned out on Adult Swim, HB has always been the most compelling of the non-Japanese series.

That sort of situational humor gets old reeeaaal fast. I think my tolerance is lower because I've read Love Hina. Srsly, despite the fact that it is unintended 90% of the time, they immediately think he is Up To No Good. Then again, Keitaro should've learned to cover his eyes. =D So both sides were being stupid.

I remember my friend bugging me about Negima, but after reading a couple of volumes, it just seemed like a carbon copy. ~_~

I watched one episode of Negima and quickly came to the same conclusion. I felt invested in Keitaro's search and didn't want to go through it all again.

Keitaro also should have learned long ago never to go anywhere where someone might be naked or in some intermediate stage between naked and dressed.

I read the manga a little before I met my friend, and he was aghast that I didn't like it. He said it was different. Maybe superficially. Plus, it felt really inappropriate for a 10-year-old boy to be in similar situations to Keitaro. D;

Haha, true. Divine punishment for stupidity? Actually, all the characters don't seem to learn... trial and error is useless.

Aren't harem manga/anime usually seinen, though? Otherwise I agree with the sentiment.

You're right, my use of shonen was inappropriate. That was careless of me. ::prays she is not beaten with the weeaboo stick::
