Oh yes they do. Hell, the original Gundam series had the cast dying left and right. Hell, even shitastic SEED had Gundam pilots dying.

The original Gundam series is 30 years old. It's the more recent adaptations that I was referring too in which they never die. Mwu, Andrew Waltfeld (though he wasn't a Gundam pilot) Trowa, Zechs, etc.

That's still not true. SEED had a good number Gundam pilots dying (Nicol, Rey, Shani, Orga, Clotho, Auel, Sting, and Stella, and that's only the Gundam pilots). G Gundam had Gundam pilots dying (Master Asia, Kyoji Kasshu). In Wing, if we count Tallgeese as a Gundam since it was modeled after one, Trieze (or if we count Episode Zero, Meirin).
