Which culture is the Witcher supposed to be? Haven't played it yet.

The game is Polish in origin, but the setting is pure medieval fantasy.

It's true that the game is set in a fantasy world as the comment above states, but I at least thought that the world and the game felt really European? Like I know that most fantasy takes place in fake 'Europe', but to me it felt distictly different from the American games I played and I really enjoyed that.
