I'm perfectly happy watching the same thing over and over with slightly different packaging. I like procedurals and buddy-shows, and there are dozens of those. I like the traditional happy ending. I don't mind if a plot is predictable so long as I'm entertained with characters I find interesting. Everything's been done before so I think it's kind of unfair to expect new and fresh all the time.

However, I don't limit myself to just what I know. I find that often when a series tries something new, it often falls flat. But if they can make it work, I give them respect. I feel like POI did a very good job of trying new stuff for instance. But, I didn't like a lot of it. On balance, I think I'm happier if things are steady and going in a way I expect.
