That makes sense. As you said, I can see where having something "officially vetted", if you will, would encourage people more to hang in there with apparent OOC as opposed to fanfic.

I do give a lot of leeway, especially for fanwriters when I'm reading, for characterization to be elastic, but I think that's because I'm used to seeing things as a writer, if that makes any sense.
