I actually disliked it. It miiiight have been the first superhero movie I really couldn't get into. I sooort of could, around the time Quicksilver got to the mansion and that was fun, but..I feel like they took pretty much every character's backstory, and said "let's ignore that completely" and it just made me feel annoyed. Bf was amused by it, though.

Also, Lawrence as Mystique just keeps getting worse.

Mystique was one of the things that bothered me. She shouldn't be a hero. Stop trying to make her one. She's better as a villain.

I guess maybe because I don't know much about the character backstories, it made it easier to enjoy it? I don't know.

Mystique is neither a hero or a true villain in my book - he's very grey as a character, and often self-serving, and complex - and this person is none of that.


I think not having an attachment to the characters helps, in this case.
