Ah, ok, that makes more sense.
I mean I still think it supports the fact that the split is cultural, and you seem to be caught between them (which is always a difficult place to be).
I do still fundamentally agree with OP's point, that Americans in general seem to have some myopic ideas of the way representation works, and view "white American representation" as all "whites". See also "white people have no culture".

I'm sorry that it's something that you struggle with.
