Because so often representation becomes checking things off of a list. Do we have the WOC? The LGBT rep? A satisfactory number of female characters?

Storytelling should be organic. That list tends to create some really bad cardboard cutout characters that are worse than no representation at all.

Also? Not everything needs to be a perfect example of representation. This is coming from a non-white, non-straight, non-gender conforming person. Do I want more stories and games about people I can identify with? Absolutely! Do I want them shoved into the background shots of games so that the developers can say they have a diverse cast? No. I've seen that too much.

Let the Witcher be the Witcher and let's talk about making more games featuring POC, LGBT people, non-European based fantasy settings, etc.
