But "most" aren't closed primary states--few states are closed primary states, just like are open--most are "hybrid" according to your own source.

Yes. And in hybrid primaries, only if you are unaffiliated or registered independent can you vote for whoever you want (as opposed to closed primaries where you can't vote at all if you're not affiliated with a party).

In hybrid primaries, if you're registered to a recognized party, you still can't vote for the candidate of another party.

Thus, there are only 11 states where you can be registered Democrat and vote for a Republican in the primary.
