Lots of good points being made here. Especially the part about getting to play a character you grew up being a fan of, and the bias and balance that can come with that. I think that's definitely something worth considering, and I can totally understand where it'd be hard to see something as exciting as that as just another job.

And even if the critics are right, anyone who puts their work out for the public can identify with the natural sting of getting a bad review, or people mocking and hating the film (or show, or book). Nobody likes getting that sort of comment, and then sometimes they're getting blamed for parts of the creative process they didn't even have any control over to boot, which would be even more frustrating.

Add in the fact that some people can't tell the difference between legit critique and outright bashing and that makes it even worse. Especially with social media being what it is nowadays, and actors actually getting harassed because a fan isn't happy with this or that. Professional or not, one would have every right to be upset and pissed off about that crap.
