Well, it's ended.

So you don't have to watch it anymore. And the last season and how it ended may have left a bad taste in my mouth that affects how I see the show, but his character, while an aficionado of whacked-out theories, is a successful novelist and has actually helped solve a lot of crimes, so, um, he's also smart and competent.

I'm so glad I never really got into this show. I watched an episode here and there and always liked them better with the love interests that were not each other, but could totally feel that I was supposed to ship them so I never really bothered.

I actually preferred it when he was mostly incompetent and helped a bit. The later seasons made it seem like he was as good or better than her at everything in spite of not having her training. And he rescued her a lot more than she rescued him. It got old.

I liked the show but I wish they hadn't gotten together. Some things are just better left untouched.
