I never cared for this book even when I loved her Darkover stuff. But when I found out that she'd enabled and excused her ex-husband's pedophilia, I got rid of all my MZB stuff. When I learned that she was an a child molester as well I was utterly revolted. It grosses me out that there are still people who consider her a feminist icon.

This. The book itself isn't even very good, but learning just what a fucking monster the author was? Things about the way she handled rape and abuse in the novel are so much creepier.

And she wrote a lot about rape and abuse themes.
