And for YOUR future reference, the religion is called "Hinduism" not "Hindu." Hindu is the adjective.

That anon kind of confused me too I'll admit. Do they think mythology doesn't exist in modern religion and tradition? Do they think modern Hinduism is the same as ancient Vedic mythology? Do they think modern Christians literally believe in Saints like they did in medieval times?

Well the other thing is that there is no such thing as "Indian" mythology, the mythological traditions were congregated mostly by religion (rooted in the Vedas and other bodies of ancient literature), not by geographical region (though of course there are variations in many of the stories depending on the region, and different things come from different places.) The sub-continent did not have a mythology of its own, the mythology came from the religion.

Well there's "Christian" ideas that probably come from old Jewish myths about various angels and demons, plus stuff like Lilith that I would be surprised if I met a Christian who believed in them. I count those as "myths" because they are not part of the current standard Bible.
