BUT GREEN JESUS CAN DO NO WRONG.

Tbh I mostly forget that cut-scene, it's been so long since I did it. But yes, I would like to land the final blow, I did all the fecking work.

I can only dream that she realises she can do better than Malfurion, I don't even care if she ends up with someone else. Be a badass all on your own if you want lady, show the bird-elf who's boss.

Yup, yup. It should be cool and I just want some kind of resolution to the whole thing, even if it's the fact that Gilneas is gone, that'd suck sure but I'd rather know for sure if we can ever go back.

To be completely honest I don't even know what Bane is up to, other than being the stand-in for his dead dad. The Tauren get so much love.

(Jaina with the... Well okay. Granted current Jaina probably could be corrupted by it, but not WoTLK Jaina, she'd fucking burn the thing. (I mean it should have been destroyed anyway but no THERE MUST ALWAYS BE A LICH KING, which had never come up before, at all, oh Blizz) Oh man... I mean technically Arthas? Maybe? Ner'Zul was the original Lich King who was corrupting Arthas and stuck himself in the crown, but Arthas kind of booted him out and took over(though it was never really explained all that well), but with Arthas dead by all rights the crown shouldn't even work anymore, or have anything in it... Goddammit Blizzard this is why it's hard to work with your lore. EVERYTHING FALLS APART WHEN YOU POKE AT IT. I'd say go with whoever you want, but the idea of an ex-prince corrupting the new crown-prince/king is pretty delicious as a premise).

same nonnie:

It's the reason I haven't finished Draenor's Nagrand. I really don't want to see him ninja my kill. I worked my ass off for that one.

Can I have an amen on that - I'm so over Malfurion. Has he done anything remotely useful? Bar, you know, Firelands.

(Your reaction was pretty much mine - why the fuck would WotLK era Jaina want to put that on her head? A twisted desire to be closer to Arthas? - And Arthas might not have been in that position to become Lich King if you actually didn't turn your back on him when he needed you, Jaina. Seriously, what the hell were you thinking when you knew there was no other way to save the people of that infected town.

And I think there's another where he might raised her to be his partner? I'm not sure, I skimmed it briefly)

Seriously. Hell, have we even seen the Goblin faction leader bar the intro storyline for the Goblins? [Of course, I don't play Goblins since the females annoy the crap out of me] So many other races need love as well, Blizz. Stop with the Orc love for a few minutes.

True, poking at their lore makes everything fall to pieces - want to break all the things. [I'm still trying to make sense of the whole Varian got split into two different people and how the fuck was that supposed to work and why no-one close to him noticed the change is beyond me. Or that VanCleef had a daughter hiding aboard his boat in that dungeon that we didn't know was there!? Ugh, really?] But yes, ex-prince corrupting the new crown-prince would be a delicious storyline.

[although, supposedly there is a curse on the sword so getting a shard could work]

Thrall: Ultimate kill-stealer.

He'll be back in Legion sadly, but there's druid stuff to do so whatever, I'll give him that. I'm just betting that Tyrande will get left out again despite there being Night Elf shenanigans going on.

(Yeah the last thing she would want to do is join forces with the thing that caused the fall of someone she loved).

He got to be there in the SoO final cut-scene I believe, but he didn't do squat. Much like every other Horde faction leader that isn't an Orc or Sylvanas.

Horde-wise the Goblins and Tauren could really do with some love, we have so little of them(and I'd love more Belf lore because I am a sucker for Belves).

Ha, yeah, don't look at it too hard because it starts falling apart. Though I kind of expect it with games that have gone on for so long, much like how both Marvel and DC continuity is a fucking mess because the both of them are 30+ years old. They really need lore-keepers and I'm genuinely surprised that large companies like that don't have any.

Yeah Frostmourne comes with badness so you could totally wangle that a shard could have enough of a curse to carry over, especially if it's held over enough time I reckon(a bit like how the One Ring works).

Same nonnie:

God, I hope Tyrande isn't left out. She's a warrior, damn it. So let her fight, Blizzard.

(Yeah, that made my brain hurt. Okay, brain gets further broken because of the theory he's really Arthas' son. How the hell would that work?)

Hee, same here. One of my first toons was a Blood Elf paladin. (Made the mistake of placing her on an RPPVP server. What the hell was I thinking?)

Oh, and the lore contradictions - ugh, those are the worst.

Okay, so the shard idea works, but would it make sense for Wrathion to give it to him, whether or not he knows what he's doing is open for debate

I don't want her to be at all, but I'm expecting it. Ever since they brought Malfurion back they've shunted her behind him(and she didn't exactly get a lot in-game prior to that anyway, it sucks).

(Wait Anduin being Arthas's son? Because I'm not even sure Arthas would have been old enough to father him, he'd have been a teenager? *goes to google WoW character ages*).

My first proper toon was a Belf mage, who also started on an RPPvP server that was Horde heavy and the Alliance players had a hate-boner for Blood Elves... I died a lot while leveling. (Like they would deliberately target me over my Tauren-playing bff, it was madness now that I look back on it).

WoW drinking game: take a shot every time a new piece of lore contradicts and old piece.

I could see Wrathion giving the shard to Anduin if he thought there would be some gain from it, like the power of the Lich King is too good to pass up as a weapon against the Burning Legion, but the drawbacks are pretty high with that too and Wrathion, while self-serving, isn't stupid. But the shard whispering suggestions to him could work, like it makes him give Anduin the shard in one way or another and then Anduin gets slowly corrupted over time. (Although that would depend on how resilient Wrathion is to that kind of suggestion, he is a dragon, but he's very young too and a tad arrogant in his own prowess simply because he's a dragon(and the son of Deathwing), so you could have his own hubris do him over there).

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

(Anonymous) 2016-06-08 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
(that was one fan theory I saw floating around. Arthas was floating around Stormwind when Anduin was born, as mentioned in the Arthas' novel, but there's lore issues with that book)

I had my Belf minding her own business, fishing, when the same alliance player killed me at least twice before I logged out in exasperation.

Re the drinking game: well, there goes one's liver, heh

That does make sense regarding Wrathion. Think Jaina (okay, my tablet really is insane - it corrected her name with Kaiba. How the hell..?) and Varian should instantly notice something different or it's subtle enough for them to miss it?

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-06-08 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
(Hm, okay people think Arthas was 10 when Varian was 12, so the ages aren't as out as I thought they were but I still don't really buy it(especially since I think it's Anduin's blonde hair that probably sparked this theory). Oh god the lore in all the books is fucked to hell tbh, I take what's in them with a huge grain of salt).

Ha, oh man, I know that pain. Busy herbing then SUDDEN DEATH and a ?? human Paladin hangs around my corpse. Fun times.

Jaina and Kaiba are clearly 100% identical, your tablet is a genius.

Hmmm, if we go with corruption ala One Ring then it could be gradual enough that neither of them would notice until it is far too late, the issue would be whether Jaina would spot it and given how powerful she is there is a good chance she would. But, if this is post-Theramore/Sunreavers Jaina the you could argue that she gives no shits and lets it continue because fuck it she got turned into an OOC mess overnight anyway.

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

same nonnie:

Oh, I don't buy it either - because it honestly makes no sense for Anduin to be Arthas' son.

yeah, I honestly haven't touched her since then [I got her to 75! And then the fun of rebuilding her on a normal server. Ugh.]

Oh, totally. I went through two battles with it wanting to put Kaiba before I claimed victory. I once started to type spider and it instantly tried to supply Spiderman as the next word I wanted. No, bad tablet.

Oh, God, I forgot what a total OOC mess she became post Theramore. Can I pretend that part of canon never happened?

Yeah it just doesn't really work.

I moved my mage onto an RP server in the end(a bunch of us went to get away from an ex-friend basically, so we all fucked off one evening) so she's still kicking around. I got her to max this expansion because I've had so much downtime.

My tablet likes to change fuck to duck far too often, no you stupid thing I am trying to swear!

I like to pretend it never happened too, alas I think Legion is going to shatter this illusion at some point. :x

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

(Anonymous) 2016-06-09 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
same nonnie:

Seriously. You'd have to jump through some serious hoops in order for that to work.

I have one at 100 [Draenai Paladin mining/jewelcrafting - maxed]. But yeah, I can understand. [And I'm forever soured by the guild system. Joined one, busted my ass leveling it since the guild leaders had vanished for close to a year, maybe even two. They come back while I'm on break from playing and suddenly, I'm guildless. Nice to see my hard work was appreciated..]

Ah, the joys of the tablet. I just sigh when it tries to offer me corrections and those are mixed with the "please stop helping me!"

I think so too - from what I've read, Jaina is still deep within OOC territory.

This is one of those cases where multiple heads does not in fact yield a better answer. But hey people like to theorise, I can understand that.

I uh, have 10 lvl 100 Alliance toons and one lvl 100 Horde(got a troll druid on the rise though, but the PC decided to crap-out so I'm getting it fixed).

Yeah guilds can be so hit or miss, I'm in a good one now but it's taken a couple of years of hopping around to find a group that aren't all dicks that jump ship as soon as something doesn't go their way, plus my raid-leader is an adorable grump.

I like it when it tries to correct my word to something I wasn't even attempting to spell, like what the hell? You're supposed to be SMART. Tho my phone is worse.

I don't see her coming out of it sadly and I predict that we'll have to kill her at some-point. Maybe not this expansion, but soon enough she'll be a raid boss.

same nonnie:

True, true. [And I could see it since it could explain why Anduin was such a pacifist - Jaina was one until she got hit by character derailment via Garrosh. But that's an entirely different set of hoops to jump through]

I think my father has a couple of lvl 100 Hordies [he's mainly Horde with some Alliance, I'm mainly Alliance with some Horde. It's ..entertaining..]

::nods:: I'm happy guildless right now - I'll leave the guild stuff to my father, heh. He deals with it better than I do.

::nods:: My DS did the same thing. [And that was even more of a pain in the ass]

Yeah, I can see that happening to Jaina - but, at least on the plus side, she'll be with Arthas again

lol sorry, I'm just imagining Jaina getting a Garrosh to the face and popping back up with the white hair yelling 'DEATH TO THE HORDE'. (If I don't laugh about it I'll cry).

I'm mostly Alliance as well, and so are my friends and family which makes things easier when it comes to doing group activities at least.

Aye, if it's too much hassle then guilds aren't the place to be. I'm only in one active guild on my main, the rest of my toons are in a personal guild that I made for myself simply to avoid guild-invite spam.

Technology is grand bro.

Oh my god, thank you for those feelings. Jesus, HOW DARE YOU. (But nah it's true, she'll be at peace then :().

that's okay - I probably could have worded that better. I was trying to say she suffered the same derailment Garrosh did once Pandaria hit. Ugh - how they could get her to do such a huge 180..

How does the personal guild work? That I'm curious on - I had no idea you could do that in the game

True, true [although, not a bro ;) This nonnie is female. I know, gasp, the rare female WoW player, heh]

And I'm so, so sorry - I didn't realize how that sounded until after I typed it. [blame it on being a little loopy from being more than a bit tired.]

Don't worry, it made me laugh so it's all good. But yeah that complete switch her character did in Mists was ridiculous, in one fecking patch!

I basically got some friends to sign a guild charter for me on some throw-away alts(they don't need to be higher than lvl 1 but you have to be physically next to them in-game so they can sign it, so pick the start zones carefully) and when I had all the signatures(I think it's 5 or 6 that are needed?) I had my own guild to dump my alts in. You do need to have someone else in the guild who can invite your alts though, but my bf covers that for me.

Oh sorry, I use bro as a gender-neutral term but I wont use it if you don't want me to. :) (female WoW player here too).

Again it's cool, I am prone to internet hyperbole in caps lock so if I'm doing that I'm just being a melodramatic silly. It just hurts in the right way, goddamn.

same nonnie:

my mind is still trying to wrap around how the hell that happened. Hell, I'm still trying to process how Garrosh happened. He wasn't that bad until we hit Pandaria and whoosh - there goes any chance of him being a good Warchief.

Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. Thank you so much for explaining :D

And that's fine - I wasn't sure how the word was being used [and one of chats on my server had the whole "girls don't play WoW" bullshit going at one point so I was a bit twitchy.]

Ah, gotcha! [Like I said, blame it on me being loopy from being tired. Too bad I don't drink or I'd blame it on me drinking on my birthday, heh] And yeah, it is painful, but it's a good pain. [And I forever curse them teasing us about Jaina/Arthas being together in life in that Thrall novel]

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

They wanted a bad-guy and lumped Garrosh with the role despite not building up to it properly. Like I'm not a huge fan of the guy but if they'd done it right we could have gotten more to it than 'btw I'm an evil dictator now'.

I will never understand what they did to Jaina, it would have been one thing to make her spiral downwards after Theramore, because that was brutal, but they had her come back from that. Then in one patch, boom, murder-rampage in Dalaran against the Sunreavers because there was a spy, like the eff?

No worries. :)

Ahhh I get'cha. It happens on my server too sometimes and it always makes me roll my eyes, at least half my guild members are girls, but nah we are super rare amirite?

I question why I get invested in characters sometimes, is the pain really worth it?? (Yes, fuck them all).

And happy birthday!! I hope you had/have a good one. ♥

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

same nonnie [who would have replied last night but collapsed into her bed instead]

That, that right there. There was absolutely no build-up to Garrosh pulling that 180. [And honestly, I was half-expecting Green Jesus to be put back as Warchief. Imagine my surprise when it was Vol'jin. Yeah, that came out of left field.] And I don't buy the Sha crap we got fed.

Yes - her murder/rampage made no sense. One spy doesn't justify that at all. I wish someone had called her out on it or at least talked some sense into her before she went for a dip into OOC land.

Yeah, I tend to block those idiots [I'll leave general open but I opted out of Trade since ugh, that's not what Trade ended up with. I think it was largely anything but Trade]

[Agreed] I'm still wondering if various other threads are going to get attention - did we ever get resolution with Kolitra/Thass [since Dark Lady was re-educating the BElf Death Knight] or is that still up in the air?

And I did, thank you!

Re: Vague Warcraft movie spoilers

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-06-09 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
All I can say is that if they were building up to it they did a poor job. Ngl I wanted Lothemar to get the gig simply because I wanted to feed on the anger and tears it would have caused, but Vol'Jin is cool as least, though I don't really know what he's been doing as Warchief? (Aside from not fucking it up).

I remember doing the quest and being so damn confused where her sudden rage came from, like if she had been shown as steadily declining after Theramore I'd get that(if not agree with), instead she got pulled back then one spy does in all that work and it's murder-time. I think they were trying to go with the whole 'nice person pushed too far' angle but they royally screwed it and her characterisation up in the process.

On my Horde server I am always out of trade-chat because the assholes run rampant there(big server, so lots more douches). My Ally server is smaller so while we do get idiots it's not as often and much more dealable with.

I've heard rumours(but they are internet rumours, so take it with a large grain of salt) that the Thassarian+Koltira thing might get some light in Legion but as it is that's another thread that got dropped and hasn't been picked up again in years. It would be nice to see that resolved in some manner though since it got left on a pretty big cliffhanger.

:)
