This is how I see them, but yeah Lily and Ginny are super similar. It doesn't really bother me like other people. I mean I married a brunette man with blue eyes and my dad is brunette with blue eyes and they look nothing alike.

I think it's mostly creepy to a lot of people because the books kept on harping on intergenerational similarities, particularly with regards to Harry. Most of the time, people would just shrug at a guy with a redheaded mom he doesn't even really remember hooking up with a readhead.

Hmm, I felt that was more fandom harping on intergenerational similarities in this instance between Ginny and Lily. Almost any time Lily was ever mentioned it was about Harry's eyes being similar to hers. I don't really remember any instances where Ginny was compared with Lily in the book. I haven't read the books in years though so I could be wrong.

Ginny wasn't, but everyone was so constantly remarking on Harry's similarity to James in appearance and in interests that it spilled over into feeling weird when it really shouldn't.

That definitely got old after awhile. It didn't spill over into the H/G stuff for me but it colored my feelings on Harry's relationships with Sirius and Remus as an example where I felt they sometimes (Sirius more than Remus by a landslide) came across as seeing Harry as James 2.0. Sirius especially bothered me because he used James against Harry sometimes saying things like your father would have done it/enjoyed it etc. Snape was also guilty of this and most of his antagonism towards Harry, especially at the beginning, was because he saw Harry as James 2.0.
