Hearing this makes me feel weirdly accomplished, and that probably says something sad about me as a person.

Uh, I have had some of the same icons for years, though! That said, a good many of them do eventually get deleted (or switched out with different icons of the same characters and/or fandoms), so your complete loss is understandable. (Now I am YOU.)
