Which is terrible. But given that mob mentality is a factor (and also factored into the backlash, in which many innocent black people were killed, so it's not just isolated to this one guy) it's probably not fair to blame all of that on Turner himself.

Do we know if he supported and encouraged the killing of children? Again I'm emphasizing that I'm talking about one man and his actions here, not the entire mob, which undoubtedly did a lot of bad.
