So you're okay with hurting women?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure am. Especially if she throws the first punch.

Hollywood is built on violence. Not many people gave much of a fuck, because a man gets the shit kicked out of him and it's all part of the plan.

Same way the draft was never in the news as a concern until the idea that women might be included in the next one.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Women didn't build hollywood, or set it's standards. And women didn't invent The Draft. You did this to yourself.

AYRT is simply pointing out that outrage tends to happen when CAFABs are the victims, but not CAMABs.

I've heard the argument that we should only take, "women and children," out of the Syrian Refugees and send the men back to fight. When there aren't many CAMABs among the refugees cause they've already been pressed into war.

Superhero stories resolve around violence, someone does something "bad," and then they get into a fight with a "good guy," and the genders shouldn't matter there.

I'm tired of 'waaah punching lady supervillains is misogyny', but I'm also tired of 'waah the draft is misandry'.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
You realize your argument makes no sense whatsoever, right?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-10 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm okay with hurting women who are capable of and trying to hurt me and mine. Doesn't mean it's the first resort though.

If I attacked someone I'd fucking expect them to fight back.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
You might expect it, but I don't think you'd want it. If you attack someone you want them to be in a position where they can't fight back. Even if you're in a situation where you're capable of winning a straight up blow for blow fight, It would still be better for you if they can't or won't fight back.

Because I'm human and squishy humans don't like to get hit, which is why I probably should've thought of that before deciding to get violent. My thought process in this undesirable situation is going to be, "Well shit, this is gonna hurt..." and not, "But I'm a girl, how dare you?!"

No, of course not. That's part of why I avoid going around attacking people.

What's even the point of this comment? Are we talking about fighting technique now? I feel like you missed my entire point

NAYRT--i'm not really okay with hurting anyone, tbh, but I'm not less okay with hurting women than men. Like, if an innocent guy who helped old ladies across the street and volunteered at a soup kitchen got brutally murdered, and a woman who routinely ate kitten sandwiches and once blinded her housekeeper by pouring scalding hot coffee over her got hit by a bus, I'm gonna care more about the guy. Flip the genders and soup kitchen lady gets my tears while kitten sandwich dude gets a "good riddance."

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
This!

I'm not super into violence irl but in media I'm all for equality of violence across genders.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
I sure as hell am, in the following situations:

1. Protection of self. If a woman is attacking you and you need to defend yourself, you're allowed to defend yourself. I usually recommend a retreat strategy first, mind you

2. Protection of others. If a woman is trying to hurt someone else, you have every right to do whatever it takes to rescue them. Even if the person they're trying to hurt is a man.

3. When competing or practicing in a violent athletic competition. Women should be allowed to be whatever they want to be, including being a boxer, and it's just patronizing to say they aren't able to compete on the same level as a man.

4. In a consensual sexual relationship where such behavior has been agreed upon by both parties ahead of time and consent to said acts has not been revoked, provided both parties are of age.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-11 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
4 is the only one I agree with.

Then you're a fucking dumbass aren't you. If I were or wanted to be a boxer but had a bunch of fucks like you who considered anyone who would fight me like an equal to be a monster, I'd consider you a sexist douchefuck and wouldn't want you trying to speak for me.
