I liked the idea of the struggle, but I thought the execution fell flat. It was not really foreshadowed and pretty much came totally out of the blue in the last four episodes or so. Like, it wasn't even really mentioned before that Aang has strong opinons against killing, iirc. Or at least came up during the Day of the Black Sun Invasion. I mean what were they gonna do then.

Plus the hypocrisy anon above mentioned, why angst so much about the evil dictator when you definitly killed some of the random guards/soldiers/etc. (Though, admittedly this is a problem with most heroes that have a no-kill policy.)
