You heard they're splitting the movie for book 7 into two movies, right? Of all the books that would have easily been cut down into one film, they chose DH?! WTF?! So it's gonna be three hours of the "Camping Trip From Hell", as I call it?! I am sooo not gonna be happy to have to sit through that. Not to mention that it'll just mean we have to wait longer to finally get the pay-off of seeing the battle at Hogwarts on the big screen. *sigh* So much for the suspense.

You are wise. The more squeeing I see about the the fact that it'll be two two-hour-long movies, for a book which had about an hour-and-a-half worth of movie-grade plot, the more I think that every HP squeer is out of their fucking gourd, at least as regards what actually makes a watchable movie.

Far be it from me to criticise a millionaire author, but damn it, couldn't she see that Neville Longbottom, Resistance Leader, makes a story 10 million times more interesting than "Ron, Harry and Hermione mope in a tent for months"?

THANK YOU! Geez, everyone else seems to be adoring the fact that there will be two movies but frankly, I'm dreading the first one. Give me more of Neville being a bad ass, plzthnx! I swear, Neville totally makes that entire book.

The first movie will be soooo boring...

I just don't understand the rabid JKR is a god type fans. They're certainly exciting books, a good read, but I doubt they'll become cornerstones of Western literature. And a decent book plot does not necessarily make a decent movie plot if followed to the letter. Sure, the first two movies followed the books more closely, but I watched the movies in order and PoA was a much better movie than CoS. GoF - OK, a bit confusing and cracktastic, but still, it had that good old visual spectacle, which is part of what you want in a movie. Y/N?

You got that right. I'd take the books over the movies any day. I dunno about you, but I found the fifth movie to be so rushed it was just ridiculous. I understood what was going on, of course, because I'd read the books, but I feel bad for anyone who didn't. That movie flew by. The visual spectacles was really all it had going for it. If anything, that one should have been split in two, especially seeing as it's the longest book in the series.

Yeah, you've got a point. I only saw the movie in German though, so I missed some of the dialogue. I do quite like the book (because I've got a La Resistance-type kink), but the movie was somewhat crazy. Not really bad, just crazy.

Still, it was one of the films I've watched where I haven't glanced down at my watch... I have the attention span of a goldfish, so if a film can glue me to a seat for however long OotP lasted, it's probably very watchable.

(heh... I was literally glued to the seat when I watched it because my assigned seat had salsa dip in it that I didn't see!)
