There's a lot, yeah, but there's a lot of EVERYTHING that becomes a fandom trend. It's no worse than High School AU or Soulbond or whatever the current fad is.

Yup, that's how I feel about it. Not that I don't understand that trends like this can be irritating if they don't appeal to you, but there are a shitload of these type of fics that don't work for me, and I mostly just ignore them. There's not much else to do.
