OW, my skin does that, too. I use super-glue to seal the splits shut (squeeze it together gently and use a teeny bit of glue). Instant pain relief. And then - lotion every time you wash your hands, lotion before bed, drink more water, and *don't* use those nasty hand-sanitizer gels.
