Eh, depends on the context of that conversation for me. Was the first poster specifically writing to the author? Because if so, yes, I'm sure that person already knows everything said in the response yet they posted the letter anyway presumably in hopes of getting a back-patting 'yes, I hope that too, look the author is on your side in your righteous crusade' reply. And the author, put on the spot and probably not wanting to have people dogpiling them with 'but you SAID' should an adaptation be greenlit with a white lead, had to remind the first person that the real world exists outside the internet and it's a lot easier to wave your flag for the cause when it's mot your paycheck on the line.
