Erestor is the only one who can control Elrond's twins and can kill a man with a roll of parchment and is also a ninja and might have been a member of Gil-Galad's secret anti-Sauron elf-CIA corps of assassins back in the Second Age but he'd rather just be a librarian.

(Okay, I don't actually read it anymore, but it amuses me on principle.)
