Well it is a lot cheaper just to bind and print a script already written. To novelize it Rowling (or Alan Dean Foster ghostwriting for her) would have to do a lot of expanding on the material already written, and a fresh print run would have to take place. That isn't to say it won't happen in the future, but right now it is cheaper to just print something already written.

I also noticed that the book coming out is the special rehearsal edition, meaning that it will probably be slightly altered from what's shown.

And I think they mentioned something about releasing a special edition.

I love Harry Potter, I really do, but there's so many books (the new illustrated editions are gorgeous!). I'm waiting to get it from the library before purchasing and reading reviews then.
