Speaking as someone who gets irrational when I'm upset: when people offer suggestions it can often feel, to me, like they're trivialising my upset. Or telling me I'm wrong to be upset. I prefer them to acknowledge that something upsetting is happening and maybe keep the advice until I've calmed down a bit.

I don't know if this will help with you and your girlfriend. Does she know that the yelling can be triggering for you because of the abuse?

Thank you for the advice!

I don't know how much she knows. I have mentioned that I was abused and anger can upset me really easily, but I have never talked about it in specifics or about her because I don't want her thinking she can't express her emotions in this relationship? idk
