Hmm, even if it's two characters I ship, I don't think of it as shipping really. I sort of mentally separate it out, the way I separate out multishipping - this A/B fic doesn't mean that B is cheating on C, because B/C doesn't exist in this version of the universe. And A taking care of tiny child B doesn't mean it's romantic, because this happens to be a version where B is a tiny child and not a romantic partner. *shrug*

(I don't really enjoy de-aging fics either, admittedly, but they don't squick me - just not my thing. And on rare occasions, they can be cute and enjoyable.)

For me, I have a pairing where I like it both platonic father/son deaged, but also sexual/romantic if not deaged. It's one where the characters are a couple years apart in canon but the one acts more childish at times and the other takes a 'team parent' role so it's very easy to AU him as an actual parent.

I just like their relationship, and I like reading about it in different ways, romantic or not.
