Re: We've officially had the worst shooting in US history
(not that I find it super offensive - a little annoying, but not the end of the world. but I've definitely only seen it used by non-Christians. not saying you are wrong but I'm surprised to see that claim.)
Re: We've officially had the worst shooting in US history
(Anonymous) 2016-06-13 02:35 am (UTC)(link)Here are a few links, purely for the hell of it, tho the first one may be of use to any budding genealogists reading this:
www(.)genealogy-specialists.com/threads/when-is-an-x-not-an-x.4901/
wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Christogram
wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Xian_(abbreviation) (in the Oxford English Dictionary!)
and the diary mentioned in the above link, where the X=Christ abbreviation was used regularly, was written by this clergyman, who was the son of a clergyman:-
geni(.)com/people/Samuel-Rogers/6000000006444287566
Links were mutilated cos I wasn't not sure if dw would eat them if I didn't.
And yes, I'm aware none of these are partic modern usages, but they're still valid usages.
*backs slowly away from google*
