I watched about the first 20 minutes of Pacific Rim and he seemed like a non-entity in both looks and acting. Not even Idris Elba could save the movie and I turned it off.

It's a fun movie for the whole giant robots battling sea monsters thing, but yeah, Hunnam doesn't make much of an impression in the role. He's just sort of there. Not doing a bad job! But not knocking your socks off, either.

I don't think del Toro gives his actors much direction. Almost everyone in that movie was lackluster.

That wasn't my take. Most of the main cast acquitted themselves well, and the little girl who played a young Mako was amazing.
