I haven't watched much telenovelas as of late, with the rise of "Narconovelas" but I do think Mexico at least has gotten a tiny teeny bit better in that regard. At least I've seen more dark-haired MCs in them. Not the greatest improvement, but well. Baby steps.

Not that I don't agree with you, though. Growing up watching the blond pure-hearted MC being antagonized by the horrible witch-like dark-haired antagonist who literally worships Satan (Soraya Montenegro te estoy viendo) and who happens to look exactly like you can really mark you.
