I'm willing to give Ben-Hur a benefit of the doubt. I love that scene towards the end where he's giving Jesus the cup of water.

(I may have to fish the originals out of hiding and watch them again)

Me too, but I won't lie that the music just made me laugh for the longest time. It's like a direct port to ABC Family or your local schmaltzy Christian Channel of choice!

Yeah, the music was...really amazingly bad. I had no idea Ben Hur was a Christ story. I've never seen it/read it.

Moana looks fun as hell.

The Moana trailer looks beautiful, but I feel kinda miffed that it looks more like the trailer for Maui than Moana.
I mean, what if... crazy idea... what if we learned something about HER?
Contrast with the trailer for Mulan - which is all about Mulan and her heroics. The Princess and the Frog trailer has Tiana sassing around.
Yet here we get Maui's antics, and Moana just... watches. That's all she does. And looks vaguely unimpressed.

I've already seen multiple outlets say "this is a story about Maui" like HELLO the movie is called MOANA. Also, why would she not know about this demigod?

I mean to me this raises a few possibilities:
1) they literally have no footage of anything else because...reasons? idk

2) they're afraid that if they showed Moana doing stuff people wouldn't want to see the movie because I guess princess movies need to be marketed to guys and this means that it has to be about guys. Or something.

3) Moana is boring and has no personality.

None of these are good options.

I think they don't have enough ready footage.

We got the first teaser for Big Hero 6 in May 2014, and the real trailer in I think July or September.

Zootopia had a teaser June 12th of last year and a first real trailer (I don't really count the DMV Sloth short in front of TFA) December 31st. The first teaser had nothing to do with the film, no shots from the film, basically a fancy and cool test run.

Frozen had it's first teaser like September and the real trailer in October if I remember right.

So a teaser five months out is kind of not Zootopia good, but it's not Frozen bad either.

I don't care what anyone says, Moana still looks exactly like all their other animated female characters from the last years, only with minimally broader features and darker skin. While the guy, once again, has a vastly different appearance than all the other guys in the last movies.
Those "character designs" are almost embarassing to look at.

Honestly Maui is a revamp of the Wasabi and Ralph molds
