Re: Mental Health Thread

I literally work at a mental health agency and my depression and anxiety is out of control. I'm a mess but I don't want to get help, any clinician I could go to in my area knows of my agency and that'd be seriously embarrassing, if they found out my occupation.

I get why that's tricky and difficult, but I also don't see why it should necessarily be embarrassing. Anyone can need help sometimes & I would expect people in mental health practice to understand that better than anyone.

^This.

Dude, if someone from your workplace judges you for having depression and anxiety, then they suck at their jobs.

Dude, psychologists usually have psychologists, I might be wrong but I think it might be required of them for their jobs in some (all?) cases. If you need help you need help,it's not shameful. I mean, do you think less of the people your agency helps?

I can tell you that playing therapist to my friends has made my own anxiety spike, and that it's healthy to know your limits. So if it's your job, having a proper outlet for advice and to unload those things or your own problems is the most balanced way to keep on keeping on. There is NO shame in doing that. In fact, it's probably very practical. You should see someone, don't be afraid to! *hugs*
