I don't think there is a connection between game violence inspiring real violence. Games are very widespread and millions of people play them. Lots of popular games include violence (GTA for example), yet it doesn't cause an increase in actual violence.

The people who were willing to hurt other people probably already had that in them, not something that was created because the game.

Same goes for satanist and Harry Potter. Sure, some might read the books but I don't think it's because of the books.
