I do not hate Muslims. I think that both Islam and Christianity are ideologically opposed to progressive values. The difference is that Muslim immigrants don't vote conservative, so they're viewed as allies despite holding basically the same religious views as conservative Christians. I can't help but think you would feel differently if they all came in voting Republican, no matter how much they otherwise kept to themselves.

the more you treat a big group of mostly normal people as monsters, the more you attack them for it, the higher the probability that some will start to act like it.

This is the basis of the left's defense of Islam, I think. You're afraid of what Muslims will do if you don't put them on the top of the victim hierarchy.
