I love ace attorney a ton and that's why I want it to end. I'm tired of pandering by bringing everyone and their mom from older cases. Apollo Justice was a step in the right direction, but lol if something like that's ever gonna happen again. stooooooooop

What would replace it? Trauma Center hasn't come out in years, and not many other games have that sort of atmosphere. For better or worse, Ace Attorney is the only thing I can point to when I say I want more games like this and less games like Watch Dogs.

I've missed the last couple of AA games (probably even more, tbh), but..in a way I understand?

I mean, it makes sense that if you enjoy something you want it to keep going, but sometimes a series will reach a point where it feels overtly repetitive or like a shadow of its former self, and you just don't see the point anymore.

There are times I feel that way about other franchises, and although I tend to end up at a place where I think, "Well, other people are still enjoying it; it doesn't need to end just because it isn't appealing to me anymore", I can still get your immediate reaction.

I get it. Phoenix's arc should have ended cleanly in the original trilogy, but then they royally fucked him over and left him without friends for no reason. I was so mixed on that. I wanted AJ to be able to stand on its own, because I like the characters and wanted to see how Apollo's arc played out. Of course, I also wanted them to fix the fucking mess they created with Phoenix...but once they did, they couldn't decide if they wanted to push Apollo away or do something great with him. Then they threw Athena into the mix and gave her a crazier backstory than Phoenix, Apollo, and Edgeworth combined. And then. The endless cameos. I used to think it was compensation for Phoenix getting screwed over in AJ, but honestly, I think Eshiro is nuts. He plays with his own characters just fine, but it's like he has no real understanding of the old characters and has no idea what to do with them. But that's a rant for another day...

I don't get the appeal of A Very Potter Musical at all.

I actually read a much better one, although it was unfinished and never put to music. But it was also played more straight than AVPM, so I wonder if it didn't actually spoil me.

I like it well enough, but it's so blatantly American, which annoys me.

Not really a fandom, but I miss STFU Parents when it wasn't basically a haven for annoying childfree people. B mostly avoids it, but even some of her posts lately have bordered on "someone mentioned their kid and that upset me."

Poop pictures are gross and oversharing is annoying, but when your friends have kids, they're going to talk about them...

Re: hot opinions

(Anonymous) 2016-06-21 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
SA - Should add that I actually am childfree myself. I just don't hate kids. Or parents wanting to talk about their kids.

I follow it on Facebook and I just avoid the comments. I haven't really seen too many (if any?) posts that stomped into 'ah a kid, shoot it!' kind of mentality?

I sort of miss fanficrants. I know, seething pit of SJW-circlejerkery, but it was still a useful place for me to vent about people who don't know the difference between the 1800s and the 1850s, or who think that Harry Potter's first name is really 'Harold'.

Re: hot opinions

(Anonymous) 2016-06-22 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much all the really annoying people have pissed off to tumblr or just in general. It's a much more thoughtful and less circle jerky place than it was in the past.

Even if it is a bit on the quiet side.

I'm not surprised Roman Reigns got suspended for violating the WWE wellness policy, and I secretly suspect that he was juicing in part because he was self-conscious after all the fan hate he's gotten.

Wow, when did this happen? I haven't been following wrestling for awhile. Was he still being pushed to the moon before this happened?

Every time my friend tries to convince me that Dark Souls isn't garbage for pretentious fucks with nothing else going on in their lives, he convinces me that it's even worse than I previously believed.

I have no horse in this race but that just seems like a spectacularly virulent opinion to have about a video game

Re: hot opinions

(Anonymous) 2016-06-21 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
One of my fandoms just had a big turnaround in character favoritism because of new canon revealed in the latest episodes. My favorite character, who used to be the fandom's most hated, is now being showered with love. And my least favorite, who used to be one of the most popular, has gotten haters for the first time.

But even now, my least favorite isn't getting nearly as much hate as my favorite used to, but you wouldn't know it looking at the way her fans are reacting. The way they act, you'd think she was a real person who the fandom was bullying. Me and the others who liked my favorite when she was still the hated character barely complained about the hate at all, even she was getting it worse and on more baseless terms -- I'm not saying that because my perspective is biased, either. The fandom's small enough that I can say for sure it's true.

I can't help thinking that says a lot about the kinds of fans each character attracts, and I feel smug knowing that I'm in the more mature group.

There's a bit in Dragon Age: Inquisition where a writer lets a fan read the manuscript for the next installation of a serial. In the actual scene, though, what he hands over is very clearly a professionally covered and bound novel. Why couldn't they have just made it a bundle of papers? If they wanted it to be tidy, it could have had stitch binding; but it had a cover illustration!

My annoyance is way, way out of proportion.

I'm this close to abandoning one of my favorite cheesy shows because the executive producer has a major hard-on for an actress who's been extremely shitty to fandom and insists on repeatedly bringing her character back.

What's your definition of 'shitty to fandom'? Just because I've seen people be accused of this because they've been harassed by fans and 'retaliated' by being mildly rude/expressing their disappointment via social media.

I've been posing as four different people trying to drum up interest in an incredibly obscure ship, in hopes that more content might be produced for them.

The problem is that people have started talking to these personas and I can feel friendships developing-- and I don't want them to, because literally three of those four are not real. I don't want to hurt anyone.

And, selfishly, I'm worried that if I'm found out, the backlash will not only be against me, but will put people off my ship forever.

Ever since I found out about the original plot for 'Frozen', I've wanted Hans to be redeemed.

I don't usually pine for "What could have been", but Hans' betrayal just seemed so unnecessary. They had a perfectly usable villain (Weselton) if they really needed one. But I don't think they even needed a villain. The scenario could have gone like:
Hans kisses Anna but nothing happens, since they just met and weren't really in love. So he tries to kill Elsa to save Anna, but Anna throws herself in the way etc. etc.

I doubt it will happen though, since Hans has become a bit if a joke.

SB: I've obviously spent too much time thinking about this.
