Yeah, DID diagnosis is a messy affair. One of the folks who helped popularize and codify the diagnosis was Colin Ross, also known for this crap: http://www.dallasobserver.com/news/colin-ross-has-an-eyebeam-of-energy-hed-like-you-to-hear-7121325 There are still some total nutjobs who've latched onto DID as their diagnosis of choice.

Dude, I met a woman who did scrying and homeopathy; and a hypnotist. Trust me, I had worse. Though the mess that is mental healthcare infuriates me.

I do not think I have DID. I think "me" on depression and anxiety is just very different to the "me" who isn't. And this is unsettling to people. I compartmentalize a lot, too. Like down to not liking the same colors or clothes, wearing my hair differently..even going by different names, so I can sort of see how shrinks would think that.

I'm not convinced on the psychosis, either. Though I think the depression and (existential) anxiety is spot on. I used to think the ptsd was bullshit, but I think they had a point in retrospect.

My husband was dxd with "atypical multiple personality disorder" by his therapist. My SO also had PTSD, along with panic attacks that were thought to be seizures for a while. Our experience did not follow the publicized "norms" & was terribly complicated to endure/recover from. Best of luck in finding whatever will work for you, Kallanda Lee.

Honestly, I'm not really looking. Best thing is for people just to let me be. Doesn't help I consider psychiatrists to be hostile by default.
