I actually think having that be one of the fields would be a good thing, just for general beta-recognition.

I mean, sure, in the rare cases I use a beta I acknowledge them in the author's notes, but a specific field would be good, too.

Ooh, I love the idea of a specific field that can actually credit a beta. I once wrote a Big Bang fic and lucked out when the fandom buddy who offered to beta it turned out to be a professional editor IRL. She went over the fic with a fine-tooth comb and the story was vastly improved as a result. I've never had such a fantastic beta experience before or since! *starry eyes*
