I can see where this would be tempting, but I've seen too many fics where thd betas meant well, but they either didn't know what their role was or the author ignored all their suggestions. I wish this was a more reliable yardstick of measurement. :(

Authors 9 times out of 10 don't tell you what they want from a beta either so... this is a two way street. I'm not going to waste my time going over something with a fine toothed comb just to have someone scream and throw a fit because their precious masterpiece didn't live up to standard English education.
