betas can still miss stuff. a lot of stuff. it is not like they are professional proof-readers. i tend to use them on larger projects and fest fics but if i'm just blowing off some post day steam then no i'm not going to start bugging my mates to read something i just wrote. however, as an author i always go back and read my stuff after it is posted and i'm open to readers going 'um what'. there is a big difference between saying 'you missed a word there' or 'i think you meant that' and destroying someone's desire to ever go near a word doc again.
