Good (and not melodramatic) "all grown up" sequels/spinoffs

The Archie comic secret got me thinking about the melodramatic clusterfuck that's the new series, which reminded me of the new Harry Potter play AND the adult Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book. Lots and lots of contrived stuff. (Well, okay, I don't know that's definitely the case for Cursed Child, but based on the spoilers I've heard it pretty much is.)

In any case, what are some sequels/reboots that actually work? Whether they're more humorous, dramatic but not overtly so...

Girl Meets World works really good for that. There's some serious "adulthood isn't shits and giggles" stuff worked in, particularly for Shawn, but it's not melodramatic, and the main focus being on the kids helps keep it fresh.

I've watched a few episodes of the show and I just couldn't continue because Riley got on my nerves.

I like Girl Meets World too. I think it's a similar story to the original, but a bit more modern at least.

It wasn't the best but the theme song to the Rugrats sequel All Grown Up has been stuck in my head since you made this thread.
