Preacher

Since I was kind of late to the party yesterday!

Anyone else watching this? Anyone read the comics (I haven't) and liking/disliking anything so far with the adaptation?

Anyone else shipping Cassidy and Jesse hard? >.>

I haven't read the comics nor do I particularly have an interest in doing so. (I'm the same way with The Walking Dead.) I can't say I completely get what's going on all the time and I wouldn't say I'm hooked, but there's something about it that keeps me watching. Maybe it's the portrayal of the core three and some of the other side characters. Or the atmosphere of the show, like we know there are supernatural shenanigans going on by way of the force inside Jesse, the agents from Heaven, and Cassidy being a vampire. But it's also so mundane and everyday -- not in a bad way, but that these people could be people you see and know in real life. I kind of hope more of the supernatural stuff comes up because sometimes I forget those elements are there, and I want to see how they come full circle.

I don't get the scenes with the Cowboy, though. Until this week's episode, I completely forgot he was even in the show. Obviously, his story has to do with the overall narrative, but there doesn't seem to be a connection yet, and every time his scenes are happening, I'm like, "What show is this, and when can we get back to Preacher?"

As for Jesse/Cassidy, I don't ship it myself but I could totally see why it'd be a ship. (Cassidy's actor even called Jesee's a "golden Adonis," and that got the ship tease engines roaring in my head.) They definitely do have that challenging banter that works well in a love/hate sort of thing. And now with the Cassidy/Tulip stuff in the makings, it should be pretty interesting to see how this "triangle" comes to play -- not even in a romantic tension sort of way, but just character interaction.
