I gotta say: I've had the exact opposite experience. Massive crush on IRL dude has amped up my attraction to a certain fictional character who resembles said dude. It will never ever happen with the dude (he's married! he's in a position of authority!), but fortunately there's lots of quality fic about the character. Not a bad consolation prize.

Why does everyone assume they're a "he"? xD But, yes, it is about a guy. And you've no idea how much I'd love us to be compatible, as you say. He's being quite persistent, throwing cheesy pick-up lines at me on a daily basis (he does know they're lame, he just seems to think he's being cute. Which he is.)

I've had some opposite experiences before, too, so I know what you mean.
