Blame Cartoon Network for murdering the PPG fandom with the crappy reboot. Sorry about their crappy reboot. :c

(Anonymous) 2016-06-29 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. What really turned me off from that crappy reboot is the removal of Sarah Bellum and the infamous unicorn episode. I didn't see the rest of this series and it makes me want to say this: I think it's stupid that CN would rather air more New!PPG and TTG, while giving the brush to better shows such as Steven Universe and We Bare Bears.

I feel similarly about Inuyasha. I got into the series after it was finished and there was no one to talk to about it. But I don't know that I'd want it to be seriously huge because then it would likely be too wanky to be enjoyable. I'd be happy with just a handful of people that liked some of the same things I did about the show and were up for chatting.

The Inuyasha fandom is alive and well on tumblr. There's a lot of great fanart and fanfic still being written. The people there can be a bit clique-y, but most are up for discussion of favorite moments. Check the tags there.

You really can't chat on tumblr.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-30 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
There's reblogging with commentary or comments in the notes. Sometimes people do PicartoTV and that can definitely be an active chat. Picarto (that people announce via tumblr) has held some of the best fandom conversations I've ever had in my 10+ years in the IY fandom.

Are they really remaking FFXII? Like a legit remake, and not a remaster/HD/ whatever they are called?

(Anonymous) 2016-06-30 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's a HD remaster. But it does mean that English-speaking audiences get the Zodiac version for the first time.

I think it's a remaster. Either way, I am excite.

Man I really want to watch more PPG.

I expect more Nana will come out if/when Yazawa Ai can draw more. The way it was left hanging, I feel weird trying to fill in too much fannishly, because anything I would write would be Jossed eventually.

DC's trying to do Birds of Prey with Babsgirl instead of Oracle, which is sort of hilarious. I don't know if it's actually pointless or not.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-30 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yazawa can draw and write. She actually released some Nana ads and Junko one-offs in recent years; breaking the fourth-wall and I think hinting at the cliffhanger in Nana (the translation I read was still fresh at the time, so this may not be entirely correct)

Hopefully she picks up the actual story again, but I have a feeling we'll be left hanging tbh

The inuyasha fandom is still decently alive, especially after Netflix put up the first couple of seasons. Really bit into the nostalgia base. And I know the Sesskag community is still ticking along pretty regularly up in dokuga.

I love ParaKiss and Nana and give me your recs for josei slice-of-life in Japan! Watching Atelier on Netflix right now and it's fabulous.

Inuyasha fandom is very active on tumblr, as has been noted. Of course it depends on which ships you're into (if any) as to how much activity you're going to find, but overall there's a lot of people posting.

Wow, I adored Legend of Dragoon. I haven't played that game in ages, but I still have my Rose action figure.

Also, was excited to hear about the HD remaster for FFXII. (Not that I don't already have a million games awaiting a first playthrough)....

I don't think the LoD fandom's ever been particularly active, but most of the stuff I've seen lately has been really awesome. Sad to say I haven't kept up with writing my own fic or doing art lately but it's not for lack of interest, but rather IRL things that have robbed me of a lot of time and energy. I still check into things regularly though :}.
