If you've only seen season 1, you haven't seen Parks and Recreation.

That said, I think you'll like the rest of the show, and I'm really curious what you think about Leslie specifically.

Was going to say the same. Season One Leslie was retconned in season two, especially towards the end of it.

(Although I have a meta theory that it was half retcon, half the pit giving her an actual purpose, rather than just being pitted against a boss who hated the government. Then the rest of the Parks and Rec Dept gradually began to appreciate her enthusiasm, and it rubbed off on them.)

Also, Andy gets way better. More flanderdized, but it's actually a case where flanderdization did good things for his character. He became less of a jerk, more of a sweet but clueless manchild.

Season one Leslie bears almost zero resemblance to rest-of-the-show Leslie.

There's a continuity there but I think OP will maybe identify w it in a more positive way.

NAYRT - Yeah, same. Leslie does still have season one!Leslie moments, but she tends to catch herself and do better, or they just manifest themselves in more positive ways.

season one is the worst season by a mile and leslie's character winds up being a lot different in subsequent seasons, so I wonder if she'll remain your least favorite as you watch more of the show

Yeah, that's just because you've only seen season 1. Parks and Rec doesn't get good until halfway through season 2! It's great after that though.

I started watching Parks & Rec the first time while I was burning out hardcore on a non-profit job. It wasn't that I didn't like Leslie, it was that it seemed like she was the butt of all the jokes, and a sucker, and that was too close to home for me at the time.

Rewatching it a year or two later in a different job, and continuing with the series, gave it a much different tone.

When I recommend it to friends, I always tell them to skip season 1.
