I get irrationally angry when people act like this not being canon or this being canon is proof that Teen Wolf has a problem with gay romances, but don't think there's anything wrong with all queer female characters either being dead or bi (there's nothing wrong with being bi, but we get several comfortable and explicitly gay male characters who live past their introduction scenes (Danny, Ethan, Cory, Mason) and only a few explicitly bi male characters, while all queer female characters are either explicitly bi only shown as having romantic relationships with men while having their relationships with other women either hinted at (or just done For Sexy Fun), or dead (both within a few minutes of being shown, or are in fact dead to begin with). Stop pretending you care about inclusion, if your only concern is about whether or not your ship is going to happen.

Who are any of those people on the bottom? I recognize Fox Girl, Malia, and (I think at the end) Lydia.

The two in the tent are the women from the episode "Fireflies" in season 3. The one on the right died during that scene, and the one on the left, played by Zelda Williams, reappears in a later episode where she confirms she's bisexual at the rave, where she asks Stiles what he likes or whatever (I stopped watching before her second appearance.)

The two circled in yellow are Kali of the Alpha Pack and Jennifer Blake/Julia Baccari. You know Kira and Malia, and the one on the end isn't Lydia, but rather a photo of Holland Roden as Lydia's grandmother & her girlfriend.

Yes, Zelda Williams' character asked Stiles if he liked guys and he paused and then got distracted, so he didn't answer.

Correct except that isn't Holland Roden. That's Stephanie Blair portraying a young Lorraine Martin

That's a damn good likeness then.

I think you are making a very good point, but the wording on this secret was complicated and hard to parse. A paragraph that long should have more than three sentences.

aarrrrgh unclosed parantheses. they hurt me.

Eh, I was wary of this show early on when it talked about how gay progressive it was but sidelined Danny.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-30 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Did it talk about how progressive it was, or did the fandom immediately decide it was progressive because there was a named gay character in it?

Because fandom does that a lot. And fandom is usually incorrect.

The creator talked about how he made a world where being gay wasn't treated differently. And that's good, but not as good as having Danny actually be a significant part of the show would have been. I just expected more if you want to talk about how gay friendly your show is. Later seasons had more gay characters but they were killed off or left or minor characters... or all of the above.

It *does* have a lot of gay characters/scenes in gay clubs/nobody being bothered by gay people. So in that sense it's progressive.

But in a lot of other senses - this secret highlighting them - it's no better than other tv shows.

Sterek shippers are trash. Teen Wolf treats female characters and queer characters like garbage. News at 11
