That makes sense. For me it comes down to what I'm comfortable sharing, I guess. My mom loves to share details about her sex life and has tried to get me to share sexual details from past relationships (before I knew what asexuality was/was comfortable with admitting it) and I've had coworkers try to get me to talk about what I liked sexually, too...but it's just never been something I wanted to share with anyone.

I just said I was gay since that way she wouldn't be surprised to hear about any girlfriends I have but she doesn't need to know about anything I do with guys.

Mine knows I'm aromantic/not interested in romantic relationships, but if I were to change my mind about that someday and date someone of the same sex, I'd feel the need to tell them I was dating someone of the same sex, but not what we did or didn't do in the bedroom, if that makes sense.
