Trashy isn't even... you can't judge it on that kind of metric. "Trashy" implies that it's a game throwing in sexual content for titillation and to get attention. It isn't. It's a game ABOUT sexual content, specifically the weirdest, most esoteric, wait-seriously-though fetishes you've ever heard of. It's set in a world where almost every conflict is resolved via rape, but everyone's basically okay with and even cheerful about that. It has forms of bodily transformation you have never heard of. It makes Monster Girl Quest look like NES Bible Adventures.

And then, just to get attention, it throws in funny, charming, complicated characters with interesting personalities. Weirdly-shaped love stories that only make sense in this universe. Strange in-jokes that depend on the internal logic of this world.

Trashy is when a game presents itself as mainstream but tries to rope in the fetish audience with cheap fanservice. CoC is, if anything, the exact opposite of that.

Friend, you don't have to! This game is 100% FREE, and so is the sci-fi sequel, which has some lovely robots and aliens stuff indeed.

The guy who makes it is pulling in $20,000 a month on his Patreon though. The games are that beloved.

The one thing that drives me crazy about CoC is that even though there's all sorts of shit like multiple dicks and oviposition and lactaction and urethral insertion there doesn't seem to be any consensual male lovers you can get (or I haven't found them yet). I got with that orc in the swamp, and that one consensual spidermorph, and apparently there's someone in the bizarre bazaar, but there's no one like your live-in female/futa lovers. There is the dragon you can have live in your camp. If you treat the egg a certain way, the character can be male and while he is a bit (scratch that a lot) of a tsundere, sex with him is still consensual.
But I agree, there is a bit of a lack of male characters.

Isn't that sick lizard wizard a dude to begin with? You can turn him into a woman, but you don't have to, and after enough medicine and sex at his home he'll move into your camp, and sex with him is consensual.

I recently got into a fantasy MMORPG and I encountered some imps there. Turns out that I can't fight imps in a totally child friendly video game anymore without getting a little horny. I totally blame CoC and its kind.

It's a surprisingly good game even with the sex removed--and entirely possible to play it that way, since most of the sexual and body mod stuff is optional.

Massive freeware games with a variety of writers aren't like massive AAA games with a variety of writers--no one cares enough to edit each writer's style into a cohesive whole. Even with cheesy or trashy games, there will be some writers who try for cool fights or solid emotional moments and succeed, just as there will be writers who fail or don't bother. It's simply a matter of whether you're willing to ignore the bad to get to the good.

I ran into that weird game on accident with my friend. The little cathedral gargoyle makes me want to cry she's so sweet. Honestly I don't think I'd mind the game minus the sex.
