First you would need a gay visual novel that is actually good. I love BL as much as the next fujoshi but all the BL VNs I've played were awful. Hadaka Shitsuji was great though, but it's just fetish PWP porn, people who aren't into that kind of porn won't enjoy it.

I've played some of those VNs you've used for the secrets and they were good, good story, good characters, terrible and painful to read porn too, but they are worth it for the plot. That's why people recommend them. I'd take Saya no Uta over Togainu no Chi any day, and I fucking hated the sex scenes in Saya no Uta, but Togainu no Chi was fucking shit.

Not OP, but I've played some good BL. No Thank You!!! was fantastic, I think it even had a secret about it this week, Animamundi the Dark Alchemist was really nice and Dramatical Murder had one of the coolest settings I've came across in a VN.

The guro only happens in the bad end. The robot dog is the main character's friend and companion and technically contains a piece of the MC's soul. And if you fail his route by answering his questions wrong (all of them are really easy and you know the answers if you just pay attention to him throughout the game, so you have to try to get them wrong, basically telling him that you don't give a fuck about him or his feelings) he ends up turning into a werewolf and eating you. It's really gruesome, but it's pretty clearly happening in context of "this is fucked up and not meant to be thought of as a good thing."
