Got sidetracked onto a couple articles about him earlier today and was wondering.

Good writer, did some interesting things, wildly overestimated by certain segments of the population, not actually the messiah

My favorite thing of his is always going to be the Federer tennis essay it's real good

He's a writer.

I don't know why you should care. Some times people like to talk about things, there's no reason to expect it should matter particularly.

I read an article detailing his communications with his friends and wife in the months before his suicide and I'm torn between "I don't know how depression works so I shouldn't draw any dumb conclusions" and an absolute baffled "how the fuck can someone let something as trivial as his inability to write a novel in as meta and experimental a way as he wanted to interfere so much with his self-worth and enjoyment of life?"
