I'm thinking about leaving my job, and it's a really scary thing. There are some big changes coming down th pipe that I don't think I'm going to like, so much so that it's driving me to check job sites for my industry. I've found some that seem at first blush like they'd be a good fit, but now that the prospect could be a reality and not just a "maybe it's time to get out" idea, I'm terrified of pulling the trigger.

I've been here very nearly 5 years, am about to get a 3rd week of vacation (presuming there's ever time to take it) and have made it to a manager's role, and I'm wary of starting over. I just want roots somewhere. You know, I'm in my 30s and I want to find that place I can settle down and retire from instead of moving every 5 years.

Feel free to talk about other job stuff here, too.

I feel the same way but it seems like jobs like that--jobs for life--are becoming a thing of the past.

You only got three weeks of vacation over five years?

Also, it is really common for people to switch jobs or even career tracks partway through their career.

Out of curiosity, what are the changes that are going to happen at your company?

Pretty sure they mean that after 5 years, they'll get three weeks vacation per year instead of just two.
